NASA to crash a spacecraft into asteroid
NASA does an experiment, crushing spacecraft into asteroid to see if it is an effective way to change asteroid’s course. The US space agency NASA decided to send the spacecraft, named Dart (Double Asteroid Redirection Test), into space and set it to crush with the asteroid Dimorphos at high speed. The collision was set on Monday evening. Experiment’s aim is to determine if crashing spacecraft into asteroid is an effective way to change its course. It is going to take days or even weeks to see if experiment succeeded. It will be big step toward better future, if this test is successful. It can be essential for us, giving us solution in case an asteroid would be heading towards Earth (even if this scenario is highly unlikely to happen). NASA’s experiment could be a turning point for humanity its future. link: Nasa to crash spacecraft into asteroid in planetary defense test | Nasa | The Guardian
