Are animal rights respected in Poland?
I think that animal rights aren’t respected in Poland, because people treat animals like objects. According to polish animal protection act, animal as a live creature, capable of suffering, is not a thing and shouldn’t be threat as such. I’ve seen many situations when people broke this law. For example my cousins had a hamster when they were little. One day they picked up the hamster and let it fall to the ground. Then they wanted to do this one more time, but fortunately I managed to stop them. Another day I went to the zoo. I saw many animals that looked starved. Some of them looked almost dead. There were many cages without animals, for example lion’s cage. I can only assume that he died, because of the hunger. To sum up, my opinion is that animal rights are not respected in Poland, because people treat animals like things, not living creatures.
You give compelling examples although I can't believe an animal in a European zoo could die of hunger - imagine the uproar!
