Indonesia football stadium disaster
Chief of Indonesian police and nine officers had been fired and eighteen others were being investigated after firing teargas inside soccer stadium, causing crush that killed at least 125 people. Teargas was police officers’ answer to fans that invaded pitch on Saturday night. However, witnesses said that it was fired not only at fans that invaded the pitch, but also at fans that stayed in the stands without any warning. Stands were overcrowded and people rushed to exit. Over 320 people had been injured, some of them were in critical condition. FIFA stadium safety guidance states that gas cannot be used inside stadiums to control crowds. National police and the Football Association of Indonesia started the investigation. We will see what it is going to bring to current information. It was really awful event and huge tragedy to not only Indonesian soccer fans, but to all fans around the world.

You do realise that tragic incidents have happened during football games quite frequently in Europe as well (e.g the Hillsborough tragedy in England)
